Carrot Shadowbox

I thought glitter card stock was hard to photograph until I tried taking pictures of this shadowbox I just finished - very difficult with glare everywhere!  I think you get the idea though.

This shadowbox is a modified version of the one in the newly released Happy Easter kit from SVGCuts.  Last week I picked up a few shadowbox frames at Michaels when they were 65% off, but I only bought 9x9" square ones.  I certainly wasn't going to be able to fit six carrots in one of those, so I adapted by slightly enlarging the carrots and planning for two instead.

I just happened to have all the supplies on hand and was excited to get to work on this after the workday was done. What's better than a newly released svg kit on a Friday afternoon with a whole weekend of crafting possibilities ahead of you?  Not much!

Here's a picture I took at a bit of an angle - it seems to have helped with the glare for the most part.

I'd love to hear what you think - feel free to leave a comment below. Hope your weekend is great and thanks for stopping by!

  1. I LOVE IT! That shadow box is awesome! Are they regularly carried at Michaels or a spring item? And..what did you use for the carrot tops!?

    1. Hi Duckie - thank you so much!! I think Michaels usually always carries the shadow boxes, but they're not always 65% off. That was just lucky timing. I had some moss that came in a fairy garden kit (also from Michaels) that I used for the carrot tops, but any type of moss or even raffia would probably look great!

  2. Oh my goodness! How cool, Lee!!! You win the award for fastest crafter - that was quick!! It looks fantastic - I love that you adapted it to a different shadowbox frame and the barn wood look of the frame is so sharp! Thanks for sharing!! :) ~Mary

  3. Love your carrots in their rustic frame...I turn green when reading of the items picked up at your American craft stores...Tasmania is totally challenged in regard to the availability of crafty resources, I need to rely on online shopping almost exclusively, so don't blame me...thanks for sharing your lovely project...

  5. I love it! Great idea. Do you remember what you sized your carrots to? Just asking to avoid making them too thick for the shadowbox ( I don't want them to be mushed by the glass). Thank you.
